The following text is from the original listed building designation:
RAMSGATE VALE SQUARE TR 3764 NE (east side) 12/388 No. 12 (The 16.10.73 Hermitage) 16.10.7 GV II House. Circa 1818, extended mid C19. White stock brick with thatched roof, extended with brick and flint and plain tiled roof. One storey and attic with 3 semi-dormers with glazing bar sashes, and stacks to rear centre and to rear right. Two 4 light mullioned windows on ground floor and central door of raised and fielded panels in gabled porch. Extended to right by 2 storey wing, gable end to road front, with stack to rear, and segmentally headed 4 light mullioned window on each floor (see Busson, Ramsgate, 127).
