The following text is from the original listed building designation:
ST NICHOLAS AT WADE DOWN BARTON ROAD TR 26 NE (west side) 1/87 School House GV II House. C17 rebuilt 1796. Brown brick and slate roofed front range and red brick, flint and rubble and plain tiled roof rear range. Two storeys and hipped roof with stack to rear right. Two glazing bar sashes on first floor and central roundel, and 2 sashes with gauged heads, that to left in a blocked doorway, on ground floor. Entry by half-glazed door in left return. Built as school headmaster's house. Central first floor roundel contains inscription: This House belonging to the Free School was built by subscription, 1796.
