The following text is from the original listed building designation:
ST NICHOLAS AT WADE THE STREET TR 26 NE (south side) 1/110 The Farrier's Cottage 25.6171 GV II
House, now including shop. C17, altered early C19. Timber framed, part exposed with brick infill, and part refaced and extended with red brick. Plain tiled roof. Entrance front: 1 storey wing to right with tumbled-in brickwork in gable front to road,freestanding stack to right, with 2 light wooden casement and cast iron air vent over. Boarded door in extension at right. Recessed wing to left with sash window, horizontally sliding sash and panelled door, and 2 storey tile hung projecting wing to left with tripartite sash, and wooden casement and half-glazed door on ground floor. Rear cross wing, 2 storeys with hipped roof and stack at end right.
