The following text is from the original listed building designation:
SARRE CANTERBURY ROAD TR 26 SE (south side) The Elms 13-10-52 GV II
House. C16 and refaced early C19. Timber framed and rendered with plain tiled roof. Three bay range with projecting cross-wing. Two storeys, the main range with end left window bay projecting slightly and modillion eaves cornice to hipped roof. Projecting 2 storey wing to right, gabled with moulded eaves cornice. Stack to centre left. Irregular fenestration : all glazing bar sashes, tripartite, 2 double sets and single on first floor; tripartite, 3 singles, 2 tripartite on ground floor. Entry by half glazed door with flat hood on brackets in right return. Interior: panelling and carved overmantel reported.
