Full Description

The following text is from the original listed building designation:
MINSTER SEVENSCORE TR 36 SW (Ebbsfleet Lane) 4/41 Barn about 50 metres south east of 11-10-63 Sevenscore House GV II The entry shall be deleted from the list.
MINSTER SEVENSCORE TR 36 SW (Ebbsfleet Lane) 4/41 Barn about 50 metres south east of 11-10-63 Sevenscore House GV II
Barn. C16. Red brick and timber framed. Thatched roof. Plinth, alternate stretcher and stretcher and header courses. 2 tiers of ventilation slits in end walls, half-hipped roof, with hipped, framed, mid-strey. Interior: 6 bays and aisles. Passing shores to arcade posts, eccentric main frame, side purlins in aisles. 2 purlins above arcade level, tenoned into principal rafters, the upper purlin clasped by collars. The end bay to the west is fully framed with brick wall built against it rather than being structurally incorporated. This barn, with extremely regular and finely worked timbers is clearly a rationalised design based on the probably earlier barn also at Sevenscore, immediately to the north west, and ultimately on that at Minster Abbey. The unusual bonding is also related to buildings at Minster.
