Full Description
[TQ 909 651 - sited from Map A, No.10.] In 1889-94, during gravel digging, several inured cremations were uncovered, each group of urns being surrounded and covered by tiles. Numerous fragments of Roman tiles noticed previously in the same field, were doubtless the top covers of tile tombs unearthed by the plough.(1)(2)
The site of this old gravel-pit, until recently rough pasture, is being developed as a Trading Estate, but to date nothing more of archaeological interest has been found (3).
