Summary

When the course of the A2 road was shifted slightly to the north in the early nineteenth century, a large quantity of Roman occupational debris was found. Subsequent small scale investigations suggested that a settlement existed for at least 650 feet east to west north of the road, possibly the site of DUROLEVUM.
