On the stream below Oziers Farm, near Barrow Green, Mr. Gate's father unearthed some wooden piles which seemed to form part of a landing stage. It is known that the creeks of the River Swayle were navigable in Roman times. (1) By the stream below Osier Farm were found four wooden piles, possibly part of a landing stage. Fragments of a large pitcher found 1927 near Osier Farm. Indications of a late Saxon settlement 8c - 9c near the farm. (2) Mr. Gate of Teynham Lane, Barrow Green, stated that Authority 1 must be referring to his grandfather. His wife had heard his father refer to the finds but neither they nor Mr. Stevens, present owner of Osier Farm (since about 1930) could say exactly where the site is.
