The following text is from the original listed building designation:
HILDENBOROUGH LONDON ROAD (north east side) TQ 54 NE 5/126 Angier chest tomb about 16m - north east of the chancel of the Church of St John GV II
Chest tomb. Probably late 1860s. Portland stone. C17 style with some Gothic detail. Rectangular chest tomb on a plinth with a coped, moulded, oversailing lid. Moulded diagonal balusters at each corner in a C17 manner. Inscription panels on the long sides with cusped Gothic frames. The earliest inscription commemorates Abigail Angier, died 1862.
One of the earlier churchyard monuments.
