Summary

Grade II listed building. Main construction periods 1500 to 1799. Farmhouse with a late 18th century front to an earlier, possibly 16th century, structure. It has a coursed rubble stone plinth, red and blue brick chequer, and a hipped plain tiled roof. The house is two storeys with a two storey extension to the west.

TQ 65 SW PLAXTOL ROUGHWAY LANE 4/30 (north side)
4.4.75 Roughway Farmhouse (previously listed as Upper Roughway Farmhouse) GV II
Farmhouse. Late C18 front to earlier, possibly C16. C16 structure. Coursed rubble stone plinth. Red and blue brick chequer with plat band and parapet with band. Hipped plain tiled roof. Two storeys; 3 window front, glazing bar sashes. Central entrance with projecting Doric columned porch, up 3 steps, and panelled door with rectangular overlight. Insurance mark. Mixture of casements and glazing bar sashes at rear. At extreme left on ground floor one low 4-light stone mullioned window of the C16 or early C17. Two-storey addition to west.
