Description from record TQ 55 NE 46 :
(TQ 59535671 - Sited from HHR map) (2) II The George & Dragon Public House MAIN ROAD Long imposing facade, slightly splayed in plan following the crook in the road. Only a small portion to left of the building is any age, probably 16th century. The painted brick on ground floor conceals an overhang. Moulded bressummer above with vertical half-timbering and plaster infilling on first floor. The long stable wing to right was built to match the older part to left in 1880, following a fire, which destroyed the greater part of the inn. Only on close inspection can it be seen that the vertical half-timbering on the first floor is merely painted in imitation. The interior is interesting, one room on the ground floor having very good chamfered ceiling joists as well as a fireplace with spandrels carved with the arms of the Earl of Stafford and the See of Canterbury.
