For poor, aged and sick men. (3) Date of foundation now known but first mentioned in Pipe Rolls, 28 Hen. II (1181-2). (4) The Leper Hospital of St. James stood on the north side of Bapchild Street with its chapel and cemetery. In 1897 a red brick wall and barn-like building perhaps occupied the site of this hospital. (5) Add. refs. (6)(7) Remains of wall and barn near to siting given by Authority 1.
