WEST MALLING

Offices, originally 2 houses. Early C18 in 2 builds. Left-hand 5 bays are of brown brick with red brick dressings. Right-hand 3 bays are of red brick with some grey headers. Plaintiled roof, half-hipped to left and with hip to right. 2 storeys; 4:8: 7 windows. Modillion eaves cornice. 12-pane sashes in moulded wooden architraves with rubbed brick voussoirs. 1st floor left 5 1st floor windows have brick aprons similar to the Joiners Arms (qv). The left 5 bays have a stone plinth, the right 3 bays have a brick plinth. The original doorcase was probably in the centre of the left 5 bays. The existing doorcase is a left side late C18 one with flat wooden hood on brackets, pilasters and rectangular fanlight with 6-panelled door and sphinx doorknocker. Attached cast-iron spear railings. Mid C19 stuccoed 4-bay extension to rear. Interior has C18 well staircase with turned balusters and column newel.
