The following text is from the original listed building designation:
HADLOW CHURCH STREET TQ 63 49 7/31 Porter chest tomb approx 20m - south south west of the tower of the Church of St Mary
GV II
Chest tomb. Dated 1811 in memory of John Porter. Limestone ashlar. Chest has fluted clasping pilasters and one panel each side with moulded frames. Flat lid with moulded edges. Moulded base and 2-step plinth. 3 sides are inscribed with Roman serifupper and lower case lettering. The north side records the death of John Porter in 1811 and his wife Sophia in 1845. The eastern and southern faces record the deaths of other members of the family.
