Full Description

The following text is from the original listed building designation:
HADLOW TONBRIDGE ROAD TQ 64 NW 6/110 Faulkners Oast (formerly listed as 11.5.73 Oasthouses and Granary at Faulkner's Farm)
II
Oasthouse. Mid/late C19, converted to 2 dwellings circa 1973. Flemish bond red brick; the main block (the former stowage) has a slate roof, the hop kilns have peg-tile roofs.
Plan: Relatively large oasthouse built on its own. The stowage is on an east west axis with 3 hop kilns on each long side. 3 storeys.
Exterior: Each end of the main block/former stowage has a wide bay filled with timber framing, weatherboarded with C20 windows. Presumably these contained loading bays and hatches originally. Original windows round the rest of the building (including the hop kilns) have low segmental brick arches. The inserted ones have flat arches. All contain circa 1973 casements without glazing bars. The stowage roof is hipped both ends. The hop kilns have tall conical roofs surmounted by cowls.
Interior: Has plain C19 carpentry where exposed. Roof not inspected.
This is a particularly good oasthouse in an important hop-growing area.
