The following text is from the original listed building designation:
HADLOW HIGH STREET (north side) TQ 63 49 7/75 Spring Cottage
GV. II
House. Mid/late C18. Flemish bond brick with burnt headers; brick stacks and chimneyshafts; peg-tile roof.
Plan: House is set back from the street and faces south. It has a 2-room plan with central entrance lobby and rear stairs. Rooms are heated by gable- end stacks. 2 storeys with attics and integral outshots to rear.
Exterior: Symmetrical 3-window front. The centre first floor window is smaller but all contain replacement horned sashes with no glazing bars and exposed frames. The ground floor windows have low segmental arches over. Central front doorway contains a part-glazed 6-panel door under flat hood on shaped brackets. 2 flat-roofed dormers contain casements with glazing bars and the mansard roof is gable-ended.
Interior: Not inspected.
Spring Cottage is one of a varied and attractive group of buildings on the western edge of Hadlow.
