The following text is from the original listed building designation:
HADLOW CHURCH STREET TQ 63 49 7/29 Golding chest tomb approx - 2m north of the vestry of the Church of St Mary

Chest tomb. Dated 1843 in memory of John Golding (it might be earlier C19). Grey limestone. Chest has clasping fluted pilastors and all 4 sides have a rectangular panel with concave corners. Flat lid with moulded edges, moulded base and 2-step plinth. The lid is inscribed but it is too weathered to be legible. The north side is inscribed with Roman serif upper and lower case lettering and records the death of John Golding in 1843. Other sides record the deaths of other members of the family.
