WEST MALLING TQ6957 HIGH STREET 1156-0/3/8 (East side) 01/08/52 Nos.27 AND 29 (Formerly Listed as: HIGH STREET Premises occupied by HR Martin and Sons Fishmonger)

House, formerly house and shop. Late C15 or early C16 open hall restored extensively in C20. A timber-framed building encased in C20 brickwork with 2 storey rear addition. Tiled gabled roof with bonnet hip to north. 2 storeys and attics: 3 windows. Large new central tile-hung gabled dormer. C20 leaded casements. C20 Tudor-style entrance. To the north is a small plate glass C19 shop window with clear glass casement above. C16 external brick chimneystack to rear. Interior has roll-moulded dais beam, 3 jowled corner posts, (1 not in situ) C16 axial beam, 2 square crownposts with head braces supporting collar purlins, old floorboards and late C18 or early C19 winder staircase. Ground floor of No 27 retains the jetty bracket, ceiling with lin chamfer and lambs tongue stops and large open fireplace with brick back and large curved bressumer.
