TQ 64 SW PEMBURY OLD CHURCH ROAD

Former lodge to Pembury Hall. Early C19, modernised circa 1970. Flemish bond red brick, palstered gables; brick stacks and chimneyshaft; peg-tile roof.
Plan: L-plan building facing south onto the lane up to Pembury Hall. The front block has a 3-room plan with doorways between the rooms. Any stacks are disused with no stacks showing. A rear block projects at right angles behind the left (west) end; one-room with an outer lateral stack. Maybe this was built as 2 2-room plan cottages.
Single storey.
Exterior: 3-bay front, each containing a canted bay window with rectangular panes of leaded glass with a top tier of arch-headed panes. Each bay has a monopitch roof underneath a gable with cusped bargeboards and apex finial and pendant. Front doorway is recessed right of centre and contains a studded plank door with strap hinges and fleur-de-lys finials. It seems that another similar doorway was blocked by the C20 window in the recess left of centre. Roof is gable-ended and each has ornamental bargeboards similar to those on the front. Similar gabled bays to rear containing C20 louvred casements.
Interior: Not inspected.
