Full Description

[MARGINAL] In a field adjoining Spood Lane, Cowden, a Roman urn of blueish marl colour was ploughed up some years ago. It contained the calcined bones of a young female and charcoal, in a very fresh state. (1)

What became of the "Roman or Saxon" urn mentioned by Turner is not known. (2)
