The following text is from the original listed building designation:
HORSMONDEN BRICK KILN LANE TQ 73 W (south east side) 4/4 Mill House and Millers Cottage GV II
House, now house pair. Early C18 and mid C19, reported C15 core. Timber framed core and extended with red and blue brick and tile hanging, and with rendered brick. Plain tiled roofs. Millers Cottage faces north and is the earlier visible wing, of 2 storeys and attic with gambrel roof and moulded stack cluster to left, with C20 Stack projecting at right. Raking dormer to left. Two 3 light and one 2 light leaded wooden camnents on first floor and 2 and 3 light casements on ground floor with half glazed door to right in raking porch. Leaded windows to return elevations. The Mill House faces south and is largely C19 in character, of 2 parallel ranges and of 2 storeys with roof hipped to right and with central stacks. Two wooden casements on first floor and 2 round headed C20 casements on ground floor wih glazed door in raking and glazed porch to left. Two storey extension on left return with pierced parapet. C15 Weavers cottage reported as core, not seen at time of survey. Broadford Wills are recorded t. Henry VIII and became part of the Austen clothworking enterprise early C17 (Cronk, St.Wargaret's Churcb,p.38).
