The following text is from the original listed building designation:
HAWKHURST WHITE'S LANE TQ 7630-7730 (west side)
17/478 Duval's Farmhouse 20.6.67 GV II House. C16 or earlier, altered c.1670 and early C19. Timber framed and weather boarded, part of ground floor in red brick with plain tiled roof. Hall house origin. Two storeys on plinth with gabled roof and with tall stack cluster to right, and lean-to outshot at end right. Three 3 light metal casements on each floor, with small top-hung wooden casement to upper left. Door of 6 panels to left with flat hood on brackets. Sandstone basement to end left. Single storey extension to left, of red brick and weather board with tiled roof. Interior: full frame visible. Cambered central tie-beam with mortice holes for crown post, now removed the tie beams in post soot-blackened. Stone fire surrounds with simple chamfers to both floors. Double roll and fillet moulded main beams and ovolo and fillet moulded mullion windows in several places, including a 7 light range to rear 1st floor. The floors and stack etc probably inserted for John Duval (inventory describes house, 1670).
