15/241 The Village Hall GV II Village hall. 1903. 'Mr Tucas' Architect. Red brick and tile hung on 1st floor with plain tiled roof. Single storey main hall, with 2 storey and attic service ends, with moulded modillion eaves cornice to hipped roof with 2 hipped dormers with central octagonal tile hung and wooden cupola with tented lead roof stack projecting at end left, with outshot. Three large central mullioned and transomed windows joined at the top by side lights, with 2 light casements to left and to right on ground floor, and boarded door to centre right. Main entry in left return by doubled 2 panel doors with large flat hood suspended from iron ties, with 3 light casements either side. Large 2 storey deeply projecting bay to rear, with fully glazed canted end. Interior: the original full height hall with half-timbered partitions has been partly ceiled in and altered. Built by local firm Davis and Leaney (responsible for much of the high quality early C20 work in and around Goudhurst).
