FRITTENDEN MILL LANE TQ 8041-8141 (north side)
13/29 Barn and stables about 30 metres south of Cherry Tree Farmhouse GV II Barn and stables. C18. Timber framed and weather boarded, with some lathe and plaster walling to rear, and extension (stables) clad with corrugated iron. Plain tiled roofs. Barn with roof half-hipped to left and hipped with outshot to right. Two half-doors to left and carriage/threshing doors to centre right. Half-doors to left return. Outshot to rear. Projecting gabled stable range to right, a later addition, with half-doors and wooden openings. Interior: the original barn range is a rare multi-purpose building, the main range unaisled with clasped purlin roof, with corn-barn and threshing floor, granary store on upper floor, stables with loose boxes and chaff-boxes and cattle pens in integral outshots. Said to have been constructed as a result of Parliamentary enclosure of adjacent common lands.
