Martello Tower no. 27 was one of a pair with no. 26 (TR 02 NE 4) guarding the Globsden Gut sluice gates, opposite St Mary's Church, Dymchurch. It was built in 1805 was at one time a semaphore station and was demolished in 1841

Full Description

A Martello Tower is shown on the OS 1" 1st Edition at TR 09322784 but not on the OS 6" 1961. (1) There are now no visible remains of this tower. Its site is occupied by a car park and promenade. (2) TR 094279. Martello Tower no. 27 was one of a pair with no. 26 (TR 02 NE 4) guarding the Globsden Gut sluice gates, opposite St Mary's Church, Dymchurch. It was built in 1805 was at one time a semaphore station and was demolished in 1841. (3,4)
