[TR 07902855]. C13th pottery jug handle, bricks and tiles found when mound pushed into pond. (Finds with and information from J.C Allnat, Lucy's, Lucy's Hill, Hythe, Kent). (1) TR 07902855. Medieval ewer spout was found in 1956 near the pond, midway between Dymchurch, St Mary's Bay and St Mary in the Marsh, in an area of land known as Fordned's Charity. Mr J C Allnot of Lucys, Hythe, lent the spout to Maidstone Museum for study. He said there had been a small mound on the site, but it had been pushed into the pond during agricultural operations some years ago. The spout was found in cultivated soil on that spot. Late medieval pottery fragments had also been found in the field. The spout is six inches long and of copper alloy, with a faceted stem, bridge attachment and the main body being in the form of an animal head. The modelling of the head is good, and the mane neatly-made, with the style suggesting an early fourteenth century date. (2) Traces of a mound survive at TR 07892853. A search of the area around the pond produced no further material. (3)
