Findspot record TR 02 NE 6 - Medieval Findspot
Summary
13th century pottery jug handle, bricks and tiles found when mound pushed into pond. Medieval pewer spout was found in 1956 near the pond, midway between Dymchurch, St Mary's Bay and St Mary in the Marsh, in an area of land known as Fordned's Charity. The spout was lent to Maidstone Museum for study. The spout is six inches long and of copper alloy, with a faceted stem, bridge attachment and the main body being in the form of an animal head. The modelling of the head is good, and the mane neatly-made, with the style suggesting an early fourteenth century date. Traces of a mound survive at TR 07892853.
