The following text is from the original listed building designation:
LAMBERHURST THE BROADWAY TQ 6636-6736 (south side) 8/239 Nos.1-3 (Tanyard Cottages) GV II
Cottage row. Mid C19. Hammer dressed sandstone on ground floor with some red brick to return elevations, ornamental tile hanging on first floor and plain tiled roof. Two parallel ranges. Two storeys and attic on plinth with bellcast to first floor. Half-hipped roof with tall moulded stacks to centre left and to centre right and central gabled dormer. Three 3 light wooden casements on each floor, those on ground floor with segmental heads, and boarded doors to left, centre right and right all with raking hoods on brackets. Rear wing of 2 storeys with half-hipped roof, 2 stacks and 3 wooden casements on each floor and 3 boarded doors. The cottages were erected as part of the Scotney Castle estate.
