The following text is from the original listed building designation:
HORSMONDEN BRICK KILN LANE TQ 73 NW (south east side) 4/18 Railed chest tomb of Hodgkin Family and railed enclosure attached, about 25 metres south east of Church of St.Margaret GV II
Railed chest tomb and railed enclosure attached. Early C19. Both railed enclosures with spear headed rails and urn finialed principals. Coffin shaped chest toab with moulded plinth and fluted corner piers and with rectangular inscription panels with the corners chamfered out, with roundels in the corner spaces. The end panels in 2 stages, the upper panels reproducing the side panels. Top slab inscribed to John Hodgkin, d. 1827, Storekeeper of H.M. Ordnance at Woolwich and Deptford.
