HAWKHURST THE MOOR TQ 7429-7529 (south side)
18/375 Two headstones 10 and 12 metres east of Church of St Lawrence GV II Two headstones. Thomas Mercer, d.1753. About 3½ feet high, and repaired with iron strap. Fine inscription, with doubled round-headed top, the left panel with skull, the right with crossed bones, linked by foliate scroll. Headstone to east, about 2½ feet high. Mid C18. Illegible inscription, with scrolled shoulders to segmental cornice, with incised lozenge-decorated background with well executed swagged arms cartouche.
