Monument record TR 02 SE 8 - Franciscan friary at New Romney
Summary
Fransican Friary founded before 1241. In 1243 there were 14 friars and the house cesased to exist probably c.1287. The house belonged to the main body of Franciscans known as Friars Minor, Conventual and was in the custody of London. There can be little doubt that the abandonment of the Friary was the result of the great storms in the Marsh c.1287.
