Full Description
A Roman brass coin of Maxentius was discovered three feet under the surface of the ground in July 1931, when a hole was dug for the erection of a gate-post near Littlestone station. Information from Major Teichmen-Derville. "In the Roman period and onwards up to the fourteenth century the site was in the middle of Romney bay and nearly half a mile from the nearest dry land". (1) The coin, now in Maidstone Museum, was found at TR 07312484. (2)
