Pair of houses. Probably circa 1870-80. Flemish bond red brick with stucco dressings and quoins, rear blocks of ochre-coloured brick; brick stacks and chimneyshafts, including some original chimneypots; peg-tile roof.
Plan: Pair of contemporary houses facing east. Each is a mirror plan of the other, one room wide and 2 rooms deep. Centre paired doorways to entrance halls and main stairs. Front rooms with gable-end stacks and rear kitchens with stacks backing onto the front rooms.
2 storeys.
Exterior: Symmetrical 4-window front of original sash windows with vertical margin panes. Those in the outer bays are tripartite sashes. All have stucco architraves with wings and the ground floor windows have moulded entablatures on fluted consoles. Front doorways up flights of stone steps have similar stucco hoods. Triangular arch doorways to internal porches, each containing an original part-glazed 4-panel door with overlight. Moulded band across the front at first floor level and quoins on end corners. Plain eaves and main roof is gable-ended. Rear roofs at right angles and gable-ended. Similar sash windows in plain openings.
Interiors: Not inspected but thought to contain original carpentry and other details.
