The following text is from the original listed building designation:
TQ 55 41 SPELDHURST SPELDHURST HILL (north side), SPELDHURST 12/571 Knell headstone approx 2m west of the tower of the Church of St Mary the Virgin GV II
Headstone. Dated 1757 in memory of Francis Knell. Upright sandstone slab standing approx 200mm high with shaped head. Front is inscribed with Roman serif upper and lower case lettering and records the death of Francis Knell in 1757.
