The following text is from the original listed building designation:
TQ 67 41 BRENCHLEY HIGH STREET, BRENCHLEY (south side) 15/126 Richard Wells headstone immediately east of the north transept of the Church of All Saints GV II
Headstone and 2 bodystones. Early C19. Freestone. Round-headed with scrolled shoulders, the head carved with the eye of God with descending rays. Festoons carved to left and right. The inscription is cut in an open book, carved in relief; swag of material below. Commemorates Richard Wells, died 1821. 2 bodystones, one broken, to the east.
