(TQ79803052) Watermill House. (1) House. Late 15th century Wealden hall-house restored in 20th century. Timber -framed building, close studded with plaster infilling on mainly stone plinth but red brick to left hand side. Listed Grade II*. [Full architectural description] (2) Restored with the hall opened out to the rafters and the crown posts showing. (3)

BENENDEN TQ73SE MILL STREET 1350-0/2/67 (South East side) 09/06/52 Watermill House II* House. Late C15 Wealden hall-house restored in C20. Timber-framed building, close-studded with plaster infilling on mainly stone plinth but red brick to left hand side. 2 storeys 4 windows. The 1st floor of the end window bays oversails on the protruding ends of the floor joists and brackets. The eaves between oversail on curved braces and a bracket. 2 storeys, 4 windows. C20 restored mullions including tall hall window. Southern ground floor window consists of 2 wide lights with four-centred heads. Original four-centred arched doorcase with quatrefoil carving to spandrels and plank door. South front also has jetty to 1st floor. Interior has dais beam, inserted C16 ceiling to former open hall and open fireplace with wooden bressumer. Octagonal crown post. (West Kent and the Weald: N. Pevsner B.o.E.: P. 148).

Wealden house with a formerly open 2-bay hall with both upper and lower ends jettied at the end as well as the front. The building was extensively restored and renovated in the 1930's. (5)
