HORSMONDEN GROVEHURST ROAD TQ 7040-7140 (east side) 7/42 North Lodge GV II
Gate Lodge. 1862 by T.H.Wyatt, architect. Polychromatic sandstones and slates. T- shaped plan. One storey and attic with kneelered parapet gables and stacks to rear centre. Irregularly placed stone mullioned windows under polychrone relieving arches, with small re-entrant addtion to centre, possibly orginal entrance porch, entry now in rear elevation. Like the South Lodge (Goudhurst Road), part of the Capel Manor complex built for the Austen family.
