CRANBROOK HAWKHURST ROAD TQ 73 SE (west side) 6/135 - Hartley House GV II
Farmhouse, now house. Late C16, early C17. Timber-framed and exposed with close studding to west, with some brick infilling on ground floor in centre. Weatherboarded and tile clad to north and south. Plain tiled roof, hipped to left and half hipped to right with tall brick stack off centre to left. 2 storeys with garrets. Irregular fenestration of 3 windows on both floors, with large blocked window on first floor to left. Large C19 wood framed casements with latticing. Boarded door to right. Catslide to rear around C17 wing con- taining stair and stair dormer. Interior: Substantial frame visible. Large central stack with huge fireplace in dining room with vast wooden bressummer. Jowled posts and side purlin roof with wind braces.
