Summary

Grade II* listed building. Main construction periods 1500 to 1732. A 16th century cloth hall refronted in the early 18th century, now a house. The building is of two storeys. The front block is of brick, on an ashlar base, featuring brick pilasters to a brick parapet, which hides a tiled roof. The front also has a regular five window range, with a central entrance. To the rear are timber framed 16th century wings. Details of the timber framing and patterned plaster are visible in the interior.

(TQ 77323599) Shepherds (NAT) (1) Shepherds, High Street, Cranbrook. Grade II*. Cloth hall, now house. C16, refronted in early C18. Timber framed to rear with front block of red brick an ashlar base. Cloth hall, now house. C16, refronted in early C18. Timber framed to rear with front block of red brick on ashlar base. Moulded wooden cornice on end brick pilasters to brick parapet hiding tiled roof. End stacks. 2 storeys. Regular 5 window front, glazing bar sashes with gauged heads, those on first floor under cut brick lintels. Central entrance with panelled door and transom light over. Wooden architrave surround with flat hood on brackets. Large timber framed C16 wings to rear, now truncated. Listing NGR: TQ7732535994 (4)
