Summary

A Mesolithic Thames pick tool was found in the bank of a road in June 1967. The pick was found exposed where a lorry had run up onto the bank and dislodged soil. Nothing of significance was noted at the spot. The artefact is now in Maidstone Museum.

Full Description

TR 08904042: Thames pick found in bank of road, June 1967. Now in Maidstone Museum presented by D Wade, 5 Caroland Close, Smeeth. (1) Mr Wade indicated the find spot approximately at TR 08953947. The pick was found exposed where a lorry had run up onto the bank and dislodged soil. Nothing of significance was noted at the spot. (2) The site is not listed in a gazetteeer of Mesolithic sites in England and Wales. (3)
