The following text is from the original listed building designation:
TQ 64 SW PEMBURY OLD CHURCH ROAD
5/415 Illegible headstone approx lm south of the chancel of the Old Church of St Peter GV II
Headstone. Dated 1769. Upright sandstone slab standing approx 1m high. It has a shaped double head, the right half carved with a crown in a sunburst and the left half carved with an hourglass. The first line of the inscription is italics, the rest is Roman serif upper and lower case lettering. The inscription is illegible in all but perfect lighting conditions but the date 1769 can be made out.
