LAMBERHURST                SCOTNEY TQ 63 NE 3/228                                             The Bastion GV                                                II
Bastion or viewing point. Circa 1840. Sandstone blocks with ashlar dressings. A D- shaped viewing point with balustrade, farming a link between the garden terrace of Scotney Castle and the landscaped garden below containing the old castle; the gardens were conceived by and laid cut for Edward Hussey with advice from William Sawrey Gilpin, who also suggested siting the new house in its present position.
