Summary
The traces of an early Iron Age occupation site have been discovered on the chalk downs near Crundale. A lynchet earthwork and Hallstatt type pottery sherds have been found in an area almost certainly to the north end of the summit ridge of Trimworth Downs.

Full Description
Traces of Early Iron Age occupation on the chalk downs near Crundale (earthworks and Hallstatt pottery) are reported by Christopher Nolan. (1) No definite information was gained on this site but the area referred to is almost certainly the N end of the summit ridge of Trimworth Downs (TR 074491) where IA potsherds have been found (see TR 04 NE 21) The only earthwork apparent is a solitary lynchet.
