record TR 04 NE 21 - Iron Age pottery, Trimworth Downs

TR 074491: Two fragments of IA pottery found by M.R Maitland Muller (former curator Royal Museum, Canterbury) on the edge of a lynchet on Trimworth Down, Crundale. (1) Royal Museum Reg. No. 1951/29/1 & 2. In store (a). Two further fragments found in a mole cast at TR 07394912 in the same lynchet and at appx. the same position as Maitland Mullers find. The find spot occurs towards the NW end of a prominent ridge but apart from this solitary lynchet, which runs along the W side of the ridge, there is nothing to suggest an occupation site. (2) Provenance is probably associated with an Iron Age occupation site on Trimworth Downs (see TR 04 NE 20). (3)
