The following text is from the original listed building designation:
TQ 64 SW PEMBURY OLD CHURCH ROAD
5/414 2 adjacent headstones approx lm south of the nave of the Old Church of St Peter GV II
2 adjacent headstones. Dated 1762 and 1792. Both are upright sandstone slabs. The right one stands approx 1.1m high. Its shaped head is carved with an hourglass in front of crossed trumpets with scrolls around. The first line of the inscription is in Gothic lettering, the rest in Roman serif upper and lower case lettering. It records the death of Joshia Parks in 1762. Adjacent to the left (north) is a taller headstone, approx1.5m high. Its shaped head is carved with a radiating sunburst flanked by swags of nut-and-husk. The inscription is in Roman serif upper and lower case lettering with italics in the open pages of a book above an apron on drapery. The inscription is faint and illegible in all but perfect lighting conditions.
