The following text is from the original listed building designation:
MOUNT EPHRAIM 1. 1746) (North West Side) No 40 TQ 5839 NW 3/265 II GV 2. Mid to late C19. 3 storeys now pebbledashed. Slate roof. 1 3-light bay through all floors. Projecting shop front with 4 round-headed arches supported by pilasters. Round-headed arch set back leading to the shop and a similar one to the right leading to the house. Nos 38 to 42 (even) form a group.
