Former farmhouse. Circa mid/late C17, partly rebuilt and extended in the circa early C20. Framed construction on brick footings; peg-tile roof; brick stacks. The circa early C20 rebuilding is in a style to match the earlier phase.
Plan: The house faces north north east, say north. It consists of a main range with a C17 crosswing at the left (east) end, the main range is a circa early C20 rebuilding. The crosswing is heated by an axial stack at the junction with the main range. Direct entry into the main range to left of centre.
Exterior: 2 storeys with an attic to the crosswing. Widely-spaced framing, the C20 rebuild matching the crosswing framing. Asymmetrical 1:2 window front, the one window to the crosswing to the left, which has a half-hipped roof to the front; roof of main range gabled at the right end. C20 front door to the left of the main block, with a gabled porch. The main block has 2 3- light C20 metal-framed casements to each floor. The attic storey of the wing is jettied on carved brackets with pendants, with a moulded fascia to the jetty. 2 storey canted bay window to the crosswing, the windows early C20 metal-framed casements but preserving probably late C17 quadrant catches. The left (east) return of the wing preserves its framing to the brick footings. Various rear additions including a flat-roofed 2-storey wing, an outshut and a pentice roof.
Interior: The wing preserves C17 carpentry with chamfered scroll-stopped ceiling beams on the long axis and exposed joists on both floors.
Roof: Clasped purlin roof to the wing.
Although this is only a fragmentary survival of a traditional house it is attractive externally.
