[TQ 5868 5450] Flint implements found A.D. 1933 & 37 [T.I.] (1) A mesolithic working floor or habitation site was found in 1933 in a sandpit at Ivyhatch, near Ightham. G.W.R. Monkton collected hundreds of cores and flakes and a few microliths. (2-3) O.S.230 notes "Mousterian site (implements and flakes) 1937". (4) [There is no supporting evidence for this.] (4) The sandpit, which had been disused for many years, is now built over. No further information has been gained concerning the discoveries and their present whereabouts in unknown. (5) TQ 586545. A number of Mesolithic implements from the working floor or habitation site at Fielder's Pit, Ivy Hatch, are now in Maidstone Museum.
