1351/10/300 CRANBROOK ROAD 22-JUN-89 (West side) Milestone and Boundary Stone At 759 336
DL Milestone and parish boundary stone. Mid C19. Stone. About 2 feet high with rounded top with incised inscription, now damaged and worn at edges. Marked on OS 6" map as: Crankbrook 2 Maidstone 16. The stone actually reads: CRANBR.......... .... 66 ROD..... ..AIDSTONE
The Hawkhurst Junction Turnpike Trust was set up by Act of Parliament in 1841. The stone also marks the boundary of Hawkhurst and Cranbrook parishes.
