On Royal Military Canal, by Appledore Bridge. Type 22 pillbox. No. 59. Concrete faced.

Type 22 pillbox of variant form, with guarded entrance, no roof, and straight blast wall (brick). Bolts fitted below embrasures for vertical wood shelf supports. Wood-shuttered exterior / interior. Entrance on E side. Situated on mound above level of Canal on its W with field of fire E across Canal. 5 x medium embrasures and 1 x small entrance embrasure. Graffiti inside. With PLAN drawn on form.

Type 24 [sic] pillbox, concrete-faced. It has an exterior blast wall protecting doorway. Hexagonal pillbox covering the Royal Military Canal at Appledore. On Royal Military Canal, by Appledore Bridge. (1)
