Summary
The site of a demolished World War Two Picket Hamilton fort at Hawkinge Airfield. The Picket Hamilton fort was a small type of retractable concrete pillbox that could be depressed by hydraulic power to the level of an airfield surface so as not to present an obstacle to aircraft. This example may have been built between 1940 and 1941: it was demolished in 1999.
